October 28 - 141.5 (perhaps my Clever Crow splurge showing?)
October 29 - 141.0
Yesterday was my rest day from working out, but I still got some exercise flying Kendall around like a space ship during trick or treating. What fun! I haven't been trick or treating since I was a teenager and I took my nephew and niece who are now 21 & 18. It was actually my first time appreciating Trick or Treat in Columbus. The area where our house was didn't have a whole lot of kids, so it wasn't really a trick or treat area. I have a feeling my new area around the condo has a lot more action in that regard. But I didn't eat any candy, and David is wonderful and made me some primal chili that was delicious, so other than perhaps a little extra wine (teehee) I did awesomely yesterday.
Tonight is the celebration of Shelby's birth, so most primaling is off. David has threatened to beat me if I don't enjoy his Octoberfest (which Matt was still raving about when we got home last night), and being the fragile flower I am, I am easily cowed into submission. Just like the threatening looks I'm getting from Dusty mean I have to sign off now and walk him.
Ta ta!

Mmm...apples and bacon and Nosferatu
October 27 - 140.5 (mysteriously enough)
Clever Crow's special for the week was pizza with caramelized apples, canadian bacon and fontinella cheese. Mmmmmmmmm. That guy is a genius. I also had one pint of Great Lakes' newest seasonal beer, Nosferatu, which the bartender described as a mix between a quite hoppy IPA and an Octoberfest. I've never had a Great Lakes beer disappoint and this one was no different.
Ahhhh.
But now I'm back on the wagon and with the leftover chili I should have a near perfectly primal day!
Now to go work out with Lora and burn off pizza and beer, even though it decided not to show itself on my scale this morning.

October 26 - 141.5
This won't be a food diary. I'm not going to bore myself and you by diligently recording every speck of food that passes through my lips. I mainly want to record progress, and share any good recipes that I find or create.
2 days in, 1.5 lbs gone. No starving myself, just watching carb intake. No bread whatsoever! I've had 2 glasses of red wine (a nice rioja currently) with dinner each night. I made delicious chili, which happens to be one of the few Matt-friendly primal meals.
I'm trying to cut down on dairy. I already don't do much dairy, and what I do is all local, whole milk. I really only put a little in my (multiple cups of) tea every day. And I have one greek yogurt a day. I might experiment with dropping that out once I use up the supply in my fridge, but I'll have to find another snack to take its place. I also have cheese in some recipes, but I don't really eat a ton of it. Like for example goat cheese sprinkled over a salad. I bought almond milk at the store this week because I had a coupon, but it makes me not like my tea, so that's not going to work. Going to try coconut milk next week!
Tonight is not going to be good, we're heading to Clever Crow Pizza. Matt's been wanting to get back there for ages, and we were supposed to go last Thursday, but I fell ill and we spent the night on the couch instead. Oops. I wouldn't be as worried about it if I wasn't also having pizza on Friday night (hurray, Shelby birthday party!). I'll just have to do the best that I can every other meal!

starting weight 143 (October 24)
goal: go as primal (as defined by marksdailyapple.com) as I can. I'm not looking to be extremely strict as I'm trying to make a lifestyle change that I would be able to stick with. Overall goal is to get lean, and get healthier. Last time I did this, it worked and I felt great, fat was coming off, and I didn't get sick through an entire winter, and my hormones leveled out (face completely cleared up, and talk about the easiest periods ever!). Then I went on vacation to visit my vegetarian parents and lost it and never got back on.
The purpose of this blog is to hold me accountable, and motivate me to keep going and not slip right back. I already eat fairly healthy, but over the past several months things have slipped back into my diet one by one. Getting sick this past weekend was my wake up call.
I do expect a major setback for the two weeks that my father is visiting, and I considered waiting until he left to start this, but I would rather start now and see how well I can do while he's here and we're eating out a bunch and he's making me apple pies.
Basically my goals in detail are:
Stay under 100g of carbs per day
Eat primarily meat, veggies and some fruit
Try to reduce the amount of dairy I eat
Not bothering with calorie counting, in fact I think I'm going to go out of my way NOT to look at calories as I tend to get wrapped up in that and it's really not important in this diet.
Exercise I think I've pretty much got down, thanks to my workout crew of David, Susan and Lora.
I am also not going alcohol free, although I am switching to red wine from beer (as much as I can).
Like I said, I'm not going super strict, or it'll just make me miserable. I'm aiming for about an 80/20, leaving room to enjoy things that aren't on the list of acceptable foods. Of course, when I hit a plateau, I'll have to revisit this.
